Corte Della Torre

Veneto and Friuli

Overview

The Corte Della Torre label is owned by TerreDomini, an Azienda Vinicola based in Verona, Italy.

The company manages production in 11 different regions throughout Italy, including Valpolicella, Verona, Veneto, Friuli, Montepulciano, Siciliy, and Puglia. The Corte Della Torre wines are made and bottled exclusively for HP Selections.

Terroir

The wines from Corte Della Torre stem from two distinct regions within Italy, Veneto IGT and Friuli DOCG. Both the Merlot Veneto IGT  and the Pinot Grigio Veneto IGT are sourced from select vineyards between Verona and Vicenza in North East Italy. The Pinot Grigio “Special Selection” is DOCG Friuli Venezia Giulia, one of Italy’s top DOCGs for the production of Pinot Grigio.

Winemaking

All of the wines from Corte Della Torre undergo a gentle pressing in order to ensure only the highest quality extraction of juice. The Merlot Veneto IGT undergoes an 8-10 day maceration, followed by fermentation in stainless steel vats. This process creates an intensely colored wine, and lends structure to the otherwise softness of a typical Merlot.

Following the press, the Pinot Grigio Veneto IGT is immediately separated from most of its lees in order to preserve the delicate fruit flavors of the grapes and acidity. Fermentation follows in stainless steel vats at a temperature of 16 degrees celsius, and the wine is bottled shortly following fermentation.

The Pinot Grigio Friuli DOCG is the flagship of the Corte Della Torre line. The wine is fermented in stainless steel vats. Following fermentation, the wine is left in contact with the lees for an extended period, adding depth, body, and color to the final bottling.
